Dr. Daniel Udoh (Chairman, ASUU UNIUYO) revealed that after extensive consultation with members, University of Uyo Branch has resolved to reject the proposal, adding that the strike shall continue until all conditions are met.
The meeting held today was in line with the directives of the ASUU National Executive Committee (NEC) to its branches to vote/decide on the recent Federal Government proposal.
Speaking to newsmen in Abuja today, ASUU President, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, said the union was still consulting with its branches nationwide to reach a consensus.
Prof.Ogunyemi revealed that the National Executive Committee has directed its branches nationwide to vote on the ongoing strike.
Inside Uniuyo gathers that a few branches held their voting today (Thursday) while others are expected to do so tomorrow (Friday). One of the branches which held its voting today – Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) Branch, has voted for the continuation of the strike.
