ASUU Strike: Union decides not to suspend strike

After a meeting with the minister of labor and productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige, on Monday, 21st January, 2018, ASUU has decided not to suspend its 80 days old strike.

According to the union’s president, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi, there are grey areas to be resolved. “We have not suspended the strike, discussion will continue at a later date. We are going back to for further consultation with our members.”

“The strike will be suspended, when the federal government addresses the issue of revitalization. Revitalization is central to our academic work. Unless that area is addressed, our members will still have issues. We are not demanding for N50 billion.”

“We are saying that the minimum that Federal Government can release to reactivate revitalization fund is ₦50 billion.”
