UniUyo Upholds not too young to lead again, as Gideon Edem (SAL) wins LAWSAN UniUyo Presidential Election

The University of Uyo once again made it know that age and statyre does not matter when choosing a leader, but rather Integrity, Youth and Character are the few of the criterias desired by the electorate when choosing it leaders.

They once proved this by Electing Rt. Hon. Emediong Ekanem as it’s SUG President of the school, and just yesterday, The Law Students Association of Nigeria (LAWSAN), University of Uyo Chapter; the faculty of the SUG President elected Comrade Gideon Edem (SAL) as their new President.

Gideon Edem of The Mission Campaign team pulled a total of 312 votes to defeat his closest rival, Comrade Martins Asukpa of The New Lawsan Campaign group who pulled 260 votes. The other candidate, Comrade Don Eyoette (SAL) of The Don Deal campaign group pulled 72 votes. The results was announced by the electoral committee chairman Mr. Saviour Obot.

The Observers which was generally adjudged peaceful, free amd fair by External observers pulled from the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences (BAMSSA), Comrades Udonsah Elijah and Abundant Grace.

In his acceptance speech, Gideon Edem described the election as no victor, no vanquish. He thanked his fellow contenders for their bravery and encouraged them to join him to Make LAWSAN a better faculty. He also announced Comrade Martins Asukpa as the Chairman of the Faculty’s Stakeholders Council for his administration.

Gideon Edem is a final year (Constituency 5) student of Law in University of Uyo. He is an Indigene of Ikot Ekpene Udo in Nsit Ibom LGA in Akwa Ibom state; hometown of RT. Hon Onofiok Luke, Speaker, AKHA. He graduted from Bright Stars Model Secondary School, Uyo in 2014. He is a senior advocate of LAWSAN UniUyo (SAL) and a partner in Ime Umanah Chambers.
