One Dead, One other seriously injured in UniUyo Cult Clash

One individual has been reported dead, while one other is believed to be seriously injured in a cult clash that is believed to have started days before matriculation.

The identity of these individuals are yet to be confirmed but reports has it that one of them is Fatherwills Ukpangere, a 300 level student of Communication Arts. The cult clash is believed to be between members of the black axe and vikings confraternity and has the involvement of both their members on and outside the campus.

Ukpangere is reported to have been killed by four students suspected to be members of the Black Axe confraternity. The victim’s body had cuts on the head and body and was taken away by the police. His body was found behind Barth Ebong lecture theater in Annex campus in the noon hours of Tuesday, 23rd April, 2019. Police in the area have confirmed the death but not the individuals identity.

Another individual is believed to have been stabbed at town campus close to the “small gate”. The individual was attacked around Akpaneno Market around the same time the body in Annex was discovered. The identity of the individual and the extent of injury is yet to be confirmed.

Yesterday night, Army and Police vans were seen around campus to help improve the security situation in campus. But the question is, does it have to be this bad before something is done about it? Students have been living in fear in and around campus for over two weeks now. This is the first time in years a clash this serious is happening in University of Uyo.

UniUyoGist advises students to be security conscious until the war is over or the threats eliminated. Avoid school during the evening hours. Avoid secluded areas of campus too and watch the people around you carefully.
