FROM THE SUG PRESIDENT’S DESK

My attention has been drawn to the numerous complaints of the Nigerian students over hostel issues ranging from inadequate bunks in the hostels, short duration of power supply especially in the Main Campus, Annex and Town Campus hostels; and issues regarding transportation.

I have communicated same to the Vice Chancellor and he has graciously approved more funds to be released for the procurement of more bunks to various halls of residence, replacement of bulbs, lightings fittings and other facilities which will make their stay comfortable.

DURATION OF POWER SUPPLY:

On the issue of short duration of power supply, the Vice Chancellor has approved for lighting to be available from 6pm to 2am (against the previous 6pm to 12pm supply). Also, light will be supplied in the morning to ensure students ironing their clothes for lectures. We sincerely regret the discomforts this has been causing and plead with the students to exercise patience as we keep working towards bringing back normalcy in the way power is usually supplied.

TRANSPORTATION:

To curb the stress students have to go through to get buses to the Permanent Site especially, the Vice Chancellor has approved for the number of shuttle buses to be increased.
While waiting for full implementation of this,
mini buses are now allowed to carry students into the main campus.

I enjoin all Nigerian students to maintain law and order as I assure you all that this will be done within a short period of time.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Happy New Week!!!!

Comr. Emmanuel Akpan,
President.
