A massive explosion rocked the capital city of Lebanon, Beruit yesterday. The explosion happened at a warehouse in the Beruit port. The warehouse containing 2,750 tonnes of unmanaged Ammonium Nitrate was ceased the government.
The explosion happened while members of the team sent to seal off the building were welding the doors of the warehouse. The actual cause of the explosion is not confirmed as at the time of writing this article. Individuals claim it was caused by a fire that started out near the building but government says it will focus its investigation on the Ammonium Nitrate.
80 bodies have been recovered so far from ruins of the explosion and a further 4000 injured people have been accounted for. The explosion was claimed to be seen 250km away all the way at Cyprus while impact was felt in the city up to 10km away from the point of explosion. After impact shows a crater at the point of the explosion.
The explosion is said to have felt like the an earthquake had just rocked the Country’s capital. Authorities are scrambling to treat the wounded, search for survivors, and assess the full extent of the damage.
